In dreams we’ve enjoyed an enchanted embrace

As the sun set its waning glow upon the lace

At the fringe of your dress, dancing in the breeze

Casting delicate shadows as we glide with ease

To our own tune, humming sweetly as we go along

With no strings or conductor; who needs them for a song

About a love that knows no boundaries or potion?

Ours will rival and conquer the most cynical notion

That true love has faded in a world grown material.

Ours will rise above and prove itself ethereal.

With the sand beneath our feet, our spirits entwine

In a step so mystical it never feigns to be divine,

And soon passion may flourish, and romance may nourish

Your faith, that such grace, exists.

Do I recite the name in hopes it will bring back that old sensation

When hope was in the air, and just that word could reincarnate

Every bit of splendor that we shared?

No.

All that’s left is the smudge in hindsight

The blur that fights for recognition,

When I’d really prefer,

It stay no more, or no less, than a tiny, insignificant blur

It saddens me that in this day and age, the majority of my generation cares more for what we display on the outside, rather than focus on the souls we stow on the inside. Until this trend diminishes, I do not see myself finding true love, but rather ignorant love.

Another note: If only we realized how full of shit each and every one of us really is, this world would be a better place

I laugh now, that you one day claimed

Your love to resemble a house cat

In such a charming manner that

I thought it meant you aimed

To earn affection from those

You deem adequate and true

Knights preferred over fools.

Yet you, toss men as you do clothes.

With skin soft as the finest fiber

Scrutinized first by Aphrodite

Before laying over lightly

Stretched gently, caressed alluring curves.

And eyes of piercing saphire

Plunge like white-hot daggers

Bursting crimson; you prefer

Seductive slaughter over satire

You lure prey through eyes

Humanity’s great weakness;

The gaze of an enchantress.

No one the wiser, a perfect guise.

Your love is indeed that of a cat:

Trust no one, never forget

‘Lest conditions are met.

You live on, gratis, no one’s pet.

It’s been so long since I’ve talked to her

The “old” her

Before my mind over-emphasized her grandeur

Before my self-destructive tendencies

Broke my heart in two cities

Half fled, with her, half stayed behind

Reluctant to commit at any point in time

Itself to the trials of deferring love or lust

for a tender heart, swept north in a gust

a primordial wind whose current lay ancient

with whispers of the Renaissance and darkest of ages,

with conflicting wisdom, not to be believed,

by anyone, but the naive: Me.

Then life became a bore without her,

without her in my hopeless arms.

I pressured and I endured

With fables of love, and the way “I LOVED HER!”

All simply a veil, over childhood insecurities

As if she were the light, and I, frightened by night

Feared the dusk when she leaves.

My protoplasmic shell sits warm in the Summer sun,

while my soul lies trapped in the frozen tundra.

The two cannot coexist, without negating creation;

resulting in, psychological frustration.

An impasse in the innards of a ruined soul,

between warring generals of Good and Evil.

Time will not heal, nor will the Summer sun loosen their grasp.

Instead I remind myself of the days we spent together.

Remembering the good, the bad, and everything between.

A tickle of warmth, to break the firing line, a brief reprieve.

Living like a slave to buried memories.

We shined like the brightest stars

even on the darkest of nights.

Yet we never knew when to give up a fight.

I guess this is where I find the light,

or recess into the shadow-less night.

love… will I ever get you right?
